Clay – Animal – Body

2022, Banff

Clay–Animal–Body, approaches the forest through the body rather than observation. A clay sphere is released on a slope, gathering twigs, leaves, seeds, fungi, and traces of animal presence as it rolls—forming a porous body through contact. The action is recorded, alongside a digital scan of the altered form. This scan is translated into ceramic pieces through clay 3D printing, where algorithmic precision meets the material’s resistance, introducing slight variations. The work unfolds as an exchange between landscape, material, and machine—where authorship is shared, and the body remains open, shaped by what it encounters.
